I believe that in the back of the mind, in places we do not speak about and may not even comprehend, we miss medieval violence and the attendant codes of behavior.

There are narratives in the media that people choose to adhere to, criticize, or ignore, and these tend to correspond to ideological and/or political prerogatives. There are philosophical questions and then the things we actually do, and they do not always match.
Masculinity is currently a hot topic. I think of that word as simply representing a man’s actions and reactions we deem appropriate and admirable at any time. Masculine ethics has always changed from one era to the next, by the way.
In articles, on message boards, and on various shows with talking heads (yeah I thought about the band too), we discuss how manly behavior affects us now and did so in the past. In fact, we debate endlessly on this subject.
