I want to help folks with mental health challenges of any kind. However, this space is especially dedicated to those who find some difficulty reconciling pessimism with the self-help commandment to think positively. This is a good thing to do, but we cannot lose all common sense in the service of optimism.
Unbridled positivity is unhelpful and fraudulent. It is false advertising and will not prepare people to live in this world. Life is complicated and so are people. For the longest time I was conflicted and could not see myself occupying the same headspace as the jocular, high-on-life crowd.
