Shopping in person is truly an experience! While online shopping offers unmatched convenience, nothing compares to the joy of spending the day out, exploring stores, trying things on, and returning home exhausted yet thoroughly satisfied.
It sounds like you know exactly what I meant. I got so tired and bored waiting for my mom and sister, as a kid. But of course now it’s something special. It was an immersive experience and like you said, made me return home tired. That experience cannot be duplicated with any other thing. Thanks for sharing.
I've never been a big shopping enthusiast, and going to the mall wasn't my favorite activity. I much preferred walking in town; if I needed something, I liked buying it from a small business owner. Now, that's almost impossible. There aren't many small businesses still open. I guess I didn't spend enough to keep them going when I had the chance.
I hear you. That’s a great experience when one can do that. That’s like an ideal thing to do. Then you raise more nostalgia about something else that is slipping away. I find there are still downtown shops open in places that have refurbished to seem quaint but actually are high priced and out of reach for the average person. Thanks for reading and sharing.
My feelings on shopping and all that has to do with December other than spending time with those I typically spend time with and charities I typically give to is… Bah humbug.
Many a day spent as a teen in malls. That’s where we hung out.
And yes, Christmas shopping meant going to the mall.
In Best in Show, the yuppie character played by Parker Posey said how lucky they were to live in the age of catalogs, so already how we shop was changing. 40 years from now people will reminisce about the first time they experienced Cyber Monday and bemoan they now have to have their bots do all the shopping for them.
Love all those Christopher Guest movies. Oh I remember catalogs fondly to. The toy section. And, you are exactly right. I’ve actually been thinking on this subject and considering if there is a story there. I am talking about the future of nostalgia and what it will be. Thanks for reading.

Well that’s alright. Happy Humbug. There is no law that says this particular time has to be anything but what you want it to be.
Hahaha, I’m going to use that one. Happy Humbug to you also!
